Dr. Ellyn Singer, PsyD, MFTAboutMeet Dr. Ellyn Singer
For more than three decades I've helped individuals and couples understand the patterns quietly shaping their lives, and loosen the hold those patterns have over them.
How I WorkDepth-oriented therapy focused on insight, emotional processing, and lasting change.
A foundation in depth
My work is grounded in psychoanalytic and psychodynamic thinking, which holds that lasting change emerges through a deeper understanding of ourselves. Rather than focusing solely on symptom reduction or short-term strategies, therapy becomes a space to explore the emotional patterns, memories, and relationships that have shaped how you experience yourself and others.
Bringing patterns into view
Together we look at the underlying dynamics that often operate outside of conscious awareness, patterns that may influence how you cope with stress, navigate relationships, or respond to life's challenges. As these patterns become clearer, many clients begin to experience meaningful shifts in how they think, feel, and relate.
Integrating EMDR
For clients working through trauma, anxiety, or experiences that feel 'stuck,' I integrate Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR allows us to process experiences not only cognitively but also within the nervous system and body.
The body's intelligence
My earlier training as a registered nurse continues to shape how I think about healing. It taught me that the body carries its own form of memory and intelligence. Because of this, I approach therapy with an awareness of how emotional experience, physical regulation, and the nervous system are interconnected.
Where it comes together
By combining psychoanalytic depth work, relational understanding, and EMDR, therapy becomes a place where both insight and emotional processing can occur, allowing changes to take root not only intellectually, but in how you feel, relate, and move through the world.
